Create a pro forma invoice
Need to send a pro forma invoice to a customer? No problem – here's how to get that done.
👉 Key point: Pro-forma invoices are created as quotes, and not invoices!
Why? Well, when you create an invoice, that invoice total is expected to be paid – so job balances and outstanding payments will reflect that invoices total.
But a pro forma invoice isn't a request for payment, it just tells your customer the purchase price. So, create a quote and title it as a pro-forma, rather than an invoice!
How to create a pro forma invoice
Visit the job > Create new quote
Start a new quote for the relevant job (– why a quote, and not an invoice? See above!)
Change the quote title to pro-forma
Enter your description and price
Describe as many work items and price as you need – just like any other paperwork.
Save and send!
That's it… save it and it's ready for you to send!
